This is my first silk-screen/printing t-shirt I've done, and I'm very excited that it's done! I have extra time to make more, so I could make copies if anyone wants any? I can even try to rearrange the pattern a little. I'm also thinking about making a "Music Slut" shirt like Liam's.
Enjoy and Rock on! \m/

Date: 2004-12-05 10:19 pm (UTC)1) Crate your design
2) Take a thin green film thing and lay it over your image then take an xacto knife and gently cut out the design you want inked (I don't know what the film is called)
3) Take a wood frame that's larger then your design and take silk or polyester(I think) and VERY tightly stretch it over the frame, stapling the sides on the frame every half inch.
4) (easier with two people) Firmly press the frame and silk upside down over the pattern and take adhering alcohol and rub it on the back of the silk.
5) Wait 20 min, use masking tape and tape around the edges, this makes sure the ink won't go anywhere other then the pattern.
6) Carefully peel off the plastic backing to the green film, lay pattern on shirt and glob some *fabric paint* at the side of the pattern.
7) Take a squeedgee and press the frame again, then move the ink across with the squeedgee(make sure there's newspaper underneath so ink won't go through!)
8) After 5 or more times of brushing, when you think there's enough ink on the shirt, lift the frame straight up, slowly.
9) Either wait a few hours for it to dry, or take a hairdryer to make it faster if you're working on the back as well.
10) Toss it in the dryer at a high temperature for an hour and there you have it!!
I can make a brand new design at school, and take pictures of the progress to make a little tutorial for you if you want. XP
